I spent a lot of time researching a replacement watch before settling on this Rotary Havana Blue/Silver model. I needed to find a well-designed, well-built and reliable watch which had the refinement of muted simplicity, as there are so many designs featuring enormous dials and over-complicated displays. I also wanted a watch with a day/date display that was easy to read at a glance, as well as strong luminescent markings for night use. With the Rotary Havana I was not disappointed.

Being from a Swiss manufacturer with excellent pedigree, the watch is a real pleasure to behold from the moment the box is opened. It comes extremely well presented on a chamoix cushion and the strap clasp has a smooth positive action which shows the thought that has gone into its design. The face is a discreet sapphire blue colour which provides a perfect contrast to the ivory-coloured hour markers and hands. This makes it easy to tell the time with just a quick glance. I was delighted with the quiet action, as well. The tick is almost inaudible; a key requirement for a good night's sleep.

The day is displayed in a subtle arc above the noon marker at the top of the dial, whilst the date lies under a magnified section of the glass, (like a Rolex) making it incredibly user-friendly and accessible.

Some might say the engraved bezel, combined with the magnified date does indeed echo the looks of a Rolex, which, I feel, is a justified opinion. However, a close inspection reveals those extra little design features, such as the engraved Rotary 'wings' on the setting button, which show the love and attention to detail that set this watch apart from lesser rivals. It is easy to set, comfortable to wear and a delight to the eye.

All in all, the Rotary Havana simply exudes quality and understated sophistication. It is everything I sought, in a refined and distinguished package. With a lifetime guarantee for good measure, I cannot recommend it highly enough.
